George Washington Elementary

Principal's Corner

Letter from the Principal 2016-2017

Hello Washington Eagles:

As the new Principal of George Washington Elementary School, it is with sincere pleasure and honor to become a member of this great school community. George Washington Elementary is fully committed to academic excellence and character development for all scholars. We pleasantly welcome scholars to a learning environment every day that is challenging, engaging, and fully supportive in preparing them to reach their full potential of becoming responsible citizens and lifelong learners. Here, at Washington Elementary School, we embrace diversity and will continue to foster collaborative relationships with staff, families, and the community to support academic and cultural excellence for our scholars.

Prior to becoming the Principal of George Washington Elementary School, I have served with Compton Unified School District for the past sixteen years. I began my first teaching position as a sixth grade teacher at Roosevelt Middle School. I was a classroom teacher for eight years and served as a math curriculum specialist for three years at the high school level. My most recent administrative experience has been shaped by five years of successful leadership as an Assistant Principal of secondary education.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential from California State University of Long Beach, my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from California State University of Dominguez Hills, and my Administrative Credential from Los Angeles County of Education. Recently, I was recognized by Compton Unified School District Pupil Services as one of the school site administrator who has demonstrated unwavering support and dedication to the students. When I am not serving the scholars of Compton, I enjoy outdoor recreational activities, listening to music and spending time with my family and friends.

My personal goal is to provide the leadership that will facilitate a safe and conducive learning environment and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of each student to the best of our ability. The educational program must be academically challenging, engaging and exciting to promote further exploration of new ideas. Parents, teachers, support staff and administration all have an important role to encourage our scholars to become active learners. It is my sincere desire to provide expanded opportunities for our students to acquire the skills to become productive citizens in a vastly changing society.

Through a close and collaborative partnership with everyone associated with George Washington Elementary School and Compton Unified School District, I am confident we can make our school an even better place for our scholars to learn and grow.

Proud to be an Eagle,

Keisha Robinson
